Chelsea wants to sign Pau Torres and Alex Baena, the Villareal duo to further bolster its squad depth

Chelsea are still on the quest to solidify their defense further. After the transfer of Kalidou Koulibaly, Wesely Fofana, and Marc Cucurella it looked like Chelsea were set in defense. However, according to recent reports, the Londoners want to sign Pau Torres in the next transfer window. According to La Razon, if Pau Torres doesn’t sign a renewal, then Villareal might have to sell him for an amount less than €65 million.

Pau Torres had multiple suitors in the summer window. Manchester United and Chelsea were the most interested in signing the player. However, United went for Lisandro Martinez whereas Chelsea went for Koulibaly. Torres was the preferred signing for the Blues in the last window. However, since he was unavailable, Chelsea went for Weseley Fofana instead. However, the Blues will be back in the next transfer window to make a bid for the player

Alex Baena is another player who is being monitored by several Premier League clubs. Arsenal and Chelsea are the clubs most interested in signing the player in the window. The player has a release clause of £30 million which makes him more wanted. The player has had a blistering start to his campaign scoring six goals and getting two assists in 10 games for Villareal. Moreover, he is yet to start a single match for Villareal. The winger is a very versatile winger capable of slotting in at any point on the forward line. As a result, many clubs alongside Arsenal and Chelsea are trying to sign the player. Villareal are aware of the interest in Baena. Consequently, they are now looking to reward Baena with a new deal.
