Chelsea are thinking of signing in the permanent option to keep Saul Niguez permanently if he performs well in the loan move. The Spaniard joined the Blues this summer on the transfer deadline day on a season-long loan move. But Chelsea have an option to make it a permanent transfer by paying 30 million to Atletico Madrid after his loan deal ends next summer.
In the last few days of the transfer market, it seemed that the deal between Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are falling off. However, the blue’s determination to sign Saul Niguez in the summer window helped them achieved success. Earlier it seemed it would be a permanent move, but Chelsea took Saul Niguez in a so-called trial period in the form of a loan.
The Thomas Tuchel side was in very much need of a proper midfielder this season as they only have three options in the midfield. With N’ Golo Kante, Jorginho, and Mateo Kovacic it would be hard to go on a full season without rest. While Kante is currently out suffering injury and will take some time before he could return to the pitch. This is where the new signing of Chelsea comes to play as he would be filling up the gap in the midfield.
And if Saul Niguez is successful in impressing Thomas Tuchel and the Chelsea board this season then he might get a permanent entry next season. While the Blues will also be cutting of Declan Rice from their transfer list if the Spaniard performs well. Which will help Chelsea to save some money as Rice will cost much more as compared to Saul Niguez.
So, let’s wait and see what Saul Niguez has under his sleeves as he is set to make his Chelsea debut against Aston Villa.
Saul Niguez in for a new challenge at Chelsea after long years at Atletico Madrid
The midfielder had his life associated with Atletico Madrid for almost 13 years, as he signed for Chelsea this summer. Playing for Atletico’s first team since 2013, Saul Niguez appeared 340 times, scoring 43 goals and 20 assists. While he lifted six titles in stay, in which he has La Liga trophy and the Europa League trophy.
However, his time at Atletico seems to have ended as the club has a lot of midfielders to choose from, following which he was offloaded. Now signing for Chelsea, he would be getting a fresh start and a new challenge in his career which he might be looking forward. While his stay at the Premier League might increase if he performs well this season.
