Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Christian Eriksen has reached a verbal agreement with the club and the deal could be completed by this week.

Christian Eriksen is set to undergo his medical this week. He could potentially join Manchester United in their pre-season training at Melbourne. Eriksen has verbally agreed to join Manchester United on a three-year deal. Christian Eriksen has previously worked with Ten Hag at Ajax when he was undergoing his recovery.

Eriksen joined Brentford following his scary cardiac arrest in the Euro 2020 while playing against Finland. He had a wonderful season playing with the Bees. He was instrumental in Brentford coasting clear of relegation in their maiden premier league campaign. Eriksen was clinical in the Bees midfield and was extremely versatile. Moreover, this versatility and consistent work rate were one of the reasons why Brentford could beat their West London rivals, Chelsea. Only De Bruyne and Odegaard created more chances than Eriksen following his Brentford debut.

This magnificent performance and his superior work rate have led to him getting a contract for the Red Devils. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this rumor. In his CaughtOffside Substack Romano has written the following:

“Manchester United have had a verbal agreement with Christian Eriksen for a week, they have sent the contracts to his lawyers and are awaiting the signatures. The club’s idea is to complete medical examinations and signatures as early as next week”

The Dane is a priority midfield signing for United

United needs players in the middle of the pitch following the exit of players like Paul Pogba and Juan Mata. The club is in heavy pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong. De Jong is priority number one for the club. However, getting Christian Eriksen is also a priority for the club. The Dane is available on a free transfer following his contract expiration with Brentford. Eriksen has a lot to offer to Manchester United. His quality and plethora of experiences will go a long way to strengthen the midfield of Manchester United.
