Juventus have started laying the foundations of their plan to lure away Christian Pulisic from Chelsea

Juventus want to sign Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window. This is according to Calciomercato who states that Juventus have already made an “exploratory contact” with the player’s agent. Pulisic signed for Chelsea in 2019 for a fee of £57.6 million. This made him the most expensive North American player of all time.

Pulisic stayed one year with Borussia Dortmund on loan after signing with Chelsea in 2019. Pulisic scored a hattrick in his second-ever Premier League match against Burnley. At 21 years of age, he became the youngest Chelsea player ever to score a hat trick. Pulisic ended his season with eleven goals and ten assists for Chelsea. In his second season with Chelsea, he was more subdued due to Covid and injuries. However, he scored an equalizer in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the league. Moreover, Pulisic also scored in both legs of the Champions League match against Lille.

The arrival of Raheem Sterling and Aubameyang means Pulisic will make the competition for a starting position very fierce. He is going to miss out on game time and hence Pulisic is looking for a move away from Chelsea. Juventus will snap up the player should he decide to leave Chelsea in the transfer window. They like his versatility and technique. However, Chelsea have no intention of letting a star player depart cheap. They will want at least €35 million for the departure of Pulisic.

Pulisic did not play in USMNT’s match against Japan owing to an ankle injury. USMNT lost 2-0 to Japan in the first game. He did start in the goalless draw against Saudia Arabia
