Cricket West Indies suffering financially. Winston Benjamin seeks help from Indian Icons

Cricket West Indies has been suffering from financial crisis since a long time. This has led to certain conflicts between Cricket West Indies and its players too. Nevertheless, the condition important a bit over the year. However, the condition has not touched that bar to provide support to the budding players. The grass root level of Caribbean cricket is still suffering. The situation is so tense that Winston Benjamin reached out to seek help from Indian cricketing icons.

The former West Indian demands nothing more than the minimum necessary for a cricketer. He clearly mentioned that money is not the priority for him right now. Indian Premier League, as he believes, provides enough monetary support to so many cricketer throughout the World. All he hopes, to receive just ten to fifteen bats.

While speaking to the veterans journalist Vimal Kumar on his you tube channel, Benjamin said,

“Previously, we used to have a tournament in Sharjah where it used to be like a benefit game for players from different countries. I don’t want benefit. All I want is for somebody to say ‘here is some equipment’ – 10 – 15 bats, that is good enough for me. I don’t want 20,000 U.S. dollars. I just want some equipment so that I can give back to the youngsters. That’s all I’m asking.”

Azharuddin did contribute. Winston Benjamin urges Tendulkar to do the same

Winston represented Cricket West Indies in 21 Tests. He also played 85 One Day Internationals from 1986 to 1995. The pacer bagged 161 scalps during his playing days.

In the interview with Vimal Kumar, Benjamin thanked India’s former captain Mohammed Azharuddin. Azharuddin donated few equipments to Cricket West Indies not too long ago.

Winston even urged Sachin Tendulkar to come forward too. He said,

“Mr. Tendulkar… if you are in a position, could you assist me? Hit me up,” he said while sharing his phone number,” he said. “I would like to thank my good friend Mohammad Azharuddin. He sent me some equipment over. Azhar, congratulations! And thank you so much for that assistance. Stay in touch. Anyone else who wants to contribute, feel free.”
