Crystal Palace winger being monitored by Manchester United for a summer move

Manchester United have already endured a torrid season and as a result, the club has started planning for the next. United are reportedly shortlisting and monitoring multiple targets to reinforce their squad in the summer. Ralf Rangnick, who is currently serving as the club’s interim manager, will also oversee the transfers when he takes the consultancy role. Moreover, according to multiple reports, Manchester United have their eyes on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise who has impressed this season.

Manchester United suffered a humiliating loss at Old Trafford against Atletico Madrid which sent them out of the Champions League. The defeat meant Manchester United will go a fifth consecutive season without a trophy. Moreover, many prominent names could leave Old Trafford this summer, with the likes of Rashford, Pogba, Lingard, all rumored to looking for an exit. This could further deplete their attacking prowess and Rangnick wants to avoid such a situation. As a result, Manchester United are tracking the Crystal Palace winger along with many other targets.

Manchester United are out of the FA Cup as well, but Rangnick is determined to use the break at its full potential. Manchester Evening News report that Rangnick sent the United scouts to watch Crystal Palace play Everton in the FA Cup. Rangnick wants to bolster the flanks at United and feels the 20-year-old Olise can add real quality and pace to the team.

United seriously considering the Crystal Palace winger for a summer transfer

Manchester United are staring at another trophy-less season and is on the verge of missing out on Champions League football for next season as well. Lack of squad depth has also contributed massively towards United’s debacles. As a result, the Red Devils are gearing up for a busy summer.

One position where United needs serious amendments is the wings. Apart from Jadon Sancho, no other winger has performed well for Manchester United this season. Anthony Elanga at times has proved his talent but is far away from consistency. Marcus Rashford has looked lost all season and is even on the list of the players looking to leave. Just when Mason Greenwood was gaining momentum, his disciplinary issues blew up everything.

Olise has shown an impressive development with Crystal Palace and attracted the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal along with Manchester United. This is Olise’s first season in the top flight, after signing for Palace from reading. His previous stints also include spells with Chelsea and Manchester City academies. The winger has already racked up 26 appearances for the Eagles, with 12 direct goal contributions (4 goals and 8 assists). Olise plays on the right-wing, and this could well be the reason Rangnick wants him. Greenwood‘s absence has created a void on the right, and Olise could prove to be a like-for-like replacement.

Moreover, Olise has a market value of a mere £16.2 million which could further take him closer to United. Crystal Palace may demand more if they are to lose one of their exciting talents to Manchester United. As Arsenal and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Olise along with Manchester United, Crystal Palace may find it difficult to keep hold of the talented winger.
