Manchester United are closing in on appointing Dan Ashworth as their new Sporting Director. The change by INEOS is being seen as a way to improve the club’s management.
The Newcastle United man worked in close proximity with Eddie Howe. Ashworth played a vital role in helping the Magpies secure a top 4 finish in 2022-23 season.
Since the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, the Red Devils are undergoing major changes behind the scenes. Jason Wilcox has already been appointed as the Technical Director while Omar Berrada’s appointment has also been confirmed by the club.
Manchester United securing Dan Ashworth move!
Manchester United are edging closer to secure Dan Ashworth. Newcastle are working on finding a replacement. The 53 year old is currently on a gardening leave.
A compensation fee between the two clubs has to be agreed, but it looks as if the deal is close to being done. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are making imminent changes in the Manchester United’s management by bringing in various figures.
Dan worth £20m?
Newcastle have reportedly quoted the Red Devils a whopping £20m for Ashworth. If United aren’t ready to spend, they won’t be able to secure Dan’s services until 2026. The Premier League transfer window is scheduled to open within a month. Ratcliffe would be keen on having Ashworth on board as soon as possible to help the Red Devils.
While Dan Ashworth will have a lot on his plate as United’s Sporting Director, reports suggest that United feel Newcastle’s valuation of Ashworth is more than what the Red Devils expected.
Man United’s Transfer Policy: A Horror Show
In the past few years, United’s transfer scheme has been disastrous. United have overpaid for youngsters who failed to perform. The Red devils also signed players on high wages with little sell-on clause ruffling many feathers.
United’s season has been plagued by injuries. The top earners have failed to put on a show and live up to the billing. Stars such as Anthony Martial, Raphael Varane and Casemiro could well be considered to lay off.
Despite their potential, interested clubs may well be put off by their current salaries. The Red Devils’ fans will be keenly hoping for things to change under Ashworth.
