Darren Bent has said that he cannot believe that Arsenal defender Ben White from the England national team. The central defender has been one of the consistent performers on the squad.
They are all set to face Italy and Germany in the Nations League. However, it looks like the defender will have a break from international duty.
THE EXCLUSION OF ARSENAL DEFENDER BEN WHITE COMES AS A SURPRISE
Football Pundit Darren Bent has said he refuses to believe that Arsenal defender Ben White was excluded from the national team. He has also said Ben White deserved a place in the national team. The former player said,
“How can Maguire be in the squad and Ben White not be? I need someone to tell me a reasonable argument. By trade, Ben White is a centre-half. Maguire’s got no form and he’s not playing.”
Ben White has played all six games for the Gunners in the Premier League. However, Harry Maguire has not even started a game since the 4-0 defeat against Brentford. Whereas, Mikel Arteta was forced to play Ben White as a right-back due of injuries to Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares. However, Ben White was brilliant for Arsenal out of his favorable position.
THE GUNNERS FANS WILL BE HAPPY THAT DEFENDER IS GOING TO HAVE A BREAK
The Gunners fans will be happy with his exclusion from the national squad. This break means White will get a much-needed short break from the busy campaign. It will also benefit Mikel Arteta. Arsenal squad are suddenly facing an injury crisis. They are playing to play with the back line of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, and Ben White in almost every match this season
They are also facing an injury crisis in the midfield. Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are also sidelined with injuries. However, Thomas Partey might be fit in the coming weeks. Although, Elneny is going to be out for a number of months. Hence, Arsenal tried to sign a midfielder in the form of Douglas Luiz on deadline day. However, Aston Villa refused to sell their star midfielder.
Arsenal and their fans were happy with his exclusion. However, neutral fans and Ben White himself will be surely surprised by his exclusion. England manager Gareth Southgate promised to pick the squad on the form. However, it seems the statement has gone out of the window for his favorite players like Maguire.
