David Ornstein of The Athletic claimed that Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer window. He also mentioned that everybody he spoke to, said this deal would go through in a few days.

The Gunners are desperately hunting the market for a new striker in this window and the Brazilian is their prime target. Multiple reports revealed that Arsenal officials are in talks with Man City to agree on a deal on the forward. But the club’s fans are worrying as other London clubs Tottenham and Chelsea also registered interest in him. However Orny is optimistic that this deal will go through in a few days saying is a matter of ‘when’, not ‘if’.

What David Ornstein said on the rumoured move

While speaking to Joel Beya on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, Orny spoke at length. He said: “Arsenal have made him their priority signing, and they are keen to get this closed out quickly. But, there is no agreement with Manchester City.”

“I think Arsenal are at the head of that queue, you speak to so many people who do expect this to happen as a matter of ‘when’ rather than ‘if’. But, there is interest from elsewhere. It could be a case of ‘if you snooze you lose’ because Chelsea are keen on Gabriel Jesus, Thomas Tuchel likes him a lot. I’m not sure Gabriel Jesus wants to come in as a wide forward, he’d want to come in as a central striker. Maybe he could do that as Romelu Lukaku’s replacement at Chelsea, remains to be seen.”

“But certainly, he can do that at Arsenal. It’s a bit of a glove-fit for them. They want him, he seems open to the move, they’ve got the position available now. There has been a lot of premature reporting so far, but clearly, it’s not far off, it’s just not there yet.”
