Chelsea player Mason Mount was praised by his England teammate Declan Rice. Mount is one of the highly-rated young players in the game. A lot of football pundits and manager appreciates his style of play but there is still a section of Blues fan who doesn’t understand the hype about this player. So, it is seen oftentimes that these managers and teammates have to answer questions about Mount. Declan Rice was recently asked about his England teammate, and he was full of praise for his teammate.

It is a known fact that Rice and Mount have been best of mates since their academy days when they both used to play for Chelsea academy. The few Chelsea fans who don’t find Mount fit for the praise, take social media and abuse him. Often times the midfielder’s teammates and manager step in to defend him. While on the England press conference duties ahead of England’s match against Senegal, some Chelsea-related questions were asked to Declan Rice. As reported by Evening Standard, Rice praised his England teammate saying,
“I don’t need to talk too much about Mase, he probably just doesn’t fit the agenda of what people want an attacking midfield player to look like in this day and age.”
He further continues,
“He is one of the best players I’ve played with — and I’m not saying that because he’s my best mate. If you see the way he helps the team, I think that’s why Gareth is so keen on him and picks him all the time. Not only with the ball, his quality he shows in abundance for England and Chelsea, but the way he is off the ball: you don’t see many number 10s who have that together. He is such a team player, such a hard-working, honest guy.
“Sometimes fans, people online, social media, they just don’t like him. For what reason I honestly don’t know. But, look, his numbers for Chelsea are incredible.
“He’s won the Champions League, won the Super Cup, at such a young age and for the rest of his career, he can go on and be whatever he wants to be. And I know he doesn’t let that noise get to him.”
Rice’s future after the World Cup
Declan Rice is linked heavily with Chelsea this January transfer window. However no move for the player have been made so far. Reports suggest that the Blues will hold talks with the midfielder after the World Cup. If the deal goes through then it will be a treat to Chelsea fans. As they will have the privilege to see the long-time mates playing together both for club and country.
