Former India player and selector, Dilip Vengsarkar commented on Hardik Pandya at a launch event.

The event was the launch of the 1983 World Cup Opus, a coffee table book in partnership with Paymentz.

Vengsarkar said that the way Hardik Pandya has played this year makes him a worthy future captain for India.

Roger Binny, present at the same event also echoed his former teammate’s stand.

Although Vengsarkar sees the captaincy potential in Pandya, he said that it will be the ultimate decision of the selectors’ vision and plans.

Hardik came into the Indian squad in 2016 and was a lower-order batsman at the start.

Currently, he has performed outstandingly well and has been promoted to number 5 in the playing XI for India.

Hardik Pandya’s performance in the IPL goes to show that he can easily fill in the role of the allrounder in the T20 World Cup for India.

Roger Binny said that Hardik would have to save himself from injuries if he is to become India’s future captain.

Another player that grabbed the attention of the two former legends was Umran Malik.

Malik has been quite impressive in this year’s IPL: he took 22 wickets in 14 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Thereafter, Malik was picked for the home series against South Africa.

Although he was not given a debut against the Proteas in the 4 matches.

He is also in the squad for the Ireland tour.

Vengsarkar feels that Malik is ready for the international circuit and is young and raring for success.

Even Binny felt that Malik should receive a chance straight away and not be kept on the sidelines as he has proved that he is quick.
