Dinesh Karthik shared a moving post on social media for the Indian cricket team after they lost to Pakistan.

The El Clasico of cricket was all set for a perfect Sunday evening. But it didn’t end well for the Indian fans. Team India suffered a heart-breaking 5-wicket loss against Pakistan in the super 4 fixture of Asia cup, 2022. After losing the toss, India managed to put up a total of 181 runs on board. Virat Kohli returned to his old form and scored 60 runs off 44 balls. Rohit Sharma’s crew were right on top of the game after they got Pakistani stalwart, Babar Azam‘s early wicket right in the fourth over.

But the game slipped from India’s grip after Mohammad Rizwan built a partnership of 73 runs of 41 deliveries with Mohammad Nawaz. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was unsuccessful in his attempt to build pressure and went for 19 runs in the penultimate over. The game went down to the wire with Pakistan holding their nerves and winning the contest in the second last ball. Both the skippers termed the partnership between Rizwan and Nawaz as game-changing. It was indeed a great game of cricket for the fans. Pakistan redeemed itself after India beat them last Sunday in the opening match of the tournament. Both teams demonstrated their full strengths in the high-pressure game.

Dinesh Karthik’s message for the team

Wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik, who is also a part of the squad, shared an inspiring post on social media in the team’s support. He shared a couple of images from the game and captioned them,

“Every day may not be our day but we stay strong and move on.”

Interestingly, Karthik was dropped from the playing eleven against Pakistan. The Indian team decided to go ahead with Rishabh Pant over Karthik. Pant, however, failed to perform and was dismissed playing a rash shot. Fans were livid with management’s decision to drop Karthik. Earlier in the tournament, skipper Rohit Sharma said that they had to make a tough choice between the two keepers as they both do not fit in the eleven together.

The resurgence of Dinesh Karthik

While players plan their retirement at the age of 37, Dinesh was silently striving for a comeback. He performed well in domestic cricket and was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL. He became a match winner for RCB in this year’s IPL. Dinesh was rewarded for his perseverance and was picked for the national side as a finisher. Ever since he has been performing consistently for the team. However, despite being in form, he has been in and out of the team as he faces strong competition from his peers.

There is still a possibility for one more India-Pakistan clash in the finals of the Asia Cup if all things go well for both sides. India will now face Srilanka on Tuesday for their second super 4 fixture. India currently stands third on the points table, whereas Srilanka ranks first in the group.
