Do Blackburn Rovers reveal the price for Brereton Diaz?

Blackburn Rover’s star striker Brereton Diaz is linked with a move away from Ewood Park in this January transfer window. The 22-year-old Chilean striker has been in sensational form for the Rovers netting 17 times in just 22 games this season.

The striker joined Blackburn in August of 2018 on loan. His move was made permanent in January 2019. Since his loan spell at Blackburn, he has made 111 appearances for the Rovers side.

According to The Sun, Blackburn has disclosed the price tag of £25 million to potential buyers Leeds and Brighton for Diaz. The striker could be lured away in the winter window.

Leeds is keen on the striker and is looking to add goal-scoring options to their squad. They only have one out and the first team striker in Bamford, who is also facing time off the pitch due to his hamstring injury.

The Elland Road outfit has struggled to find goals this term. And signing Diaz will bolster their attacking options, making him a good fit. But having spent £50 million in the previous transfer window, the price tag could be too expensive for them.

Brighton And Hove Albion are also keeping tabs on the Chilean striker. But again the £25 million price tag might be off-putting for the Seagulls. They will however make an attempt at signing Diaz if the price is around £20 million.

Spanish side Sevilla is also interested in the Rovers striker. Lopetegui wants a striker in the winter window and Diaz fits the bill.

Blackburn will trigger their option to extend Diaz’s contract by 1 year which ends next summer. And will hopefully persuade the striker to pen down a new long-term contract with the club.

Tony Mowbray on Diaz’s potential exit from Blackburn this January

Blackburn Mowbray has confirmed that there are chances of the 22-year-old striker leaving the club in the January transfer window. But the price has to be right for the striker to part ways with the Ewood Park outfit.

The Blackburn manager still hopes that an agreement is reached between Diaz and the club. But if not, the striker may leave for a suitable price.

Here is what Mowbray had to say regarding Brereton Diaz’s potential move away from Ewood Park:

If Brereton goes, the first question in my mind is how much of the money are we getting? Or are we not seeing any of it?

I’d like to think we can give Ben a new contract because I believe the best way to leave the club would be if someone offers an amount of money that would just be stupid to turn down.

We could buy three £5m players on the back of it, and then give yourselves a real chance and expectation to get promotion.

Brereton Diaz has been a crucial part of Mowbray’s team and losing him would put a dent in their promotion hopes. In case the Chilean leaves this January, they will have to find his replacement immediately.
