According to world-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Donny van de Beek has completed his medicals for Everton. The Dutchman was linked with a move away from Manchester United for quite some time now. His lack of game time led to many questioning his role at the club. The Red Devils and the Toffees have now agreed a loan deal until the end of the season without a buy option for the player.

Donny rarely started for United but also rarely made any appearances as a substitute. Many thought that Solskjaer did not favor him to play but it has been the same story under Ralf Rangnick also. The club has come to the conclusion of letting him out on a deal to Everton where he might get more game time.

Manchester United signed Donny van de Beek for £40 million in 2020. He has made just 14 appearances for United this season starting only just 4 of those matches. He has played just 364 minutes for the club which is not ideal for a Champions League player. However, everyone knows the quality he possesses and United will not want to give away that kind of quality so easily.

A loan deal does seem sensible for both United and Everton. The Toffees are having a horrific season having sacked Rafa Benitez and signed Frank Lampard as their manager. Donny has confirmed his choice to Lampard according to Romano and the English manager might favor the Dutchman due to his playing style.

What can Donny provide Everton as Fabrizio Romano confirms the deal?

Donny van de Beek can play two roles in the midfield, either as a number 10 or as a number 8. Bruno Fernandes was undroppable in the number 10 role at United which explains Donny’s lack of game time. However, the Dutchman was an integral part of the Ajax squad and played both as a number 10 and also as a number 8.

He is a smart and intelligent player who likes to attack the spaces. In addition, he has great passing skills to support his style of play. He can be a ball carrier in a 4-3-3 setup and can also play as a box-to-box midfielder. His best performances at Ajax came in the number 8 role as he likes to make the late runs into the box.

He was an important player of the Ajax squad that reached the Champions League semi-finals in the 2018 season. This Champions League experience can help the Everton squad and their players to improve their quality. Moreover, Donny can personally benefit while playing under Frank Lampard who himself was one of the best midfielders of his generation.

United have not included an option to buy in the contract as they still see that Donny can help them in the future. They do not want to regret the £40 million signing they have made. The Dutchman can show the league what he is capable of by succeeding at Everton. However, Lampard’s management will also play a key role at Everton and also in Donny’s development.
