Reports last week suggested that Arsenal had a full agreement for the transfer of the star striker Dusan Vlahovic in the January transfer window. The agreement was worth around £62million. The deal could have also included Lucas Torreira, who is currently on loan with the Serie A club. But the striker looks set to wait until the end of the season before moving.
The 21-year-old forward has recorded 20 goals and set up a further four for his teammates this term in just 24 appearances in all competitions for Fiorentina this term. (stats via Transfermarkt). With a goal return like that, a number of top-European clubs are after his signature.
Premier League giants including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspurs are also scouting the young forward. While Italian giants Juventus are also keeping tabs on his situation and could make a move next summer. The striker’s current deal only runs until 2023 and the striker has shown no intention of signing a new contract with the Italian outfit. Florentina look set to cash in on the youngster instead of losing him on a free transfer.
Manchester City striker situation
The debate among football fans and pundits is still going on whether Manchester City are better off with a striker or without a striker. Despite the debate, City still have one of the best attacks in the league. They have recorded 55 goals in 23 league games. This is second best to only Liverpool with 58 goals in the league.
Manchester City still have not signed a proper replacement for club legend Sergio Aguero. Aguero joined Barcelona on a free transfer in the summer. While the only recognized striker at the club Gabriel Jesus has been used as a winger for the majority of the season. Manchester City also recently let go of Spanish winger Ferran Torres.
Reports claim that Pep Guardiola is keen to sign a top striker to lead the attack next summer. The club are currently scouting Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Dusan Vlahovic. If the recent reports of Vlahovic’s ‘dream move’ to the Etihad Stadium are true. City have the upper hand in the race to land the Serbian striker next summer.
