The EFL CUP Round 3 just got done yesterday. The most interesting of the fixtures were during the last day of fixtures. This comes after certain teams losing in games which the majority didn’t expect. There were a lot of games that did come closer than they should have. While one funny part of the news was that due to the intensive number of games being broadcasted at a time. The Arsenal vs Wimbledon game wasn’t being broadcasted worldwide. It could be seen that many teams played their second team while resting most of the starting 11. This could be seen in teams like Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool
Manchester United vs West Ham || Liverpool vs Norwich (EFL CUP ROUND 3)
The main upset during this entire round 3 of the EFL was Manchester united losing to West Ham at Old Trafford. While many had expected Manchester United to win this game with ease, they didn’t. Manuel Lanzini scored the only goal in the 9th minute of the game. While Manchester United took 27 shots in the game, only 6 of them were on target. It must be said that West Ham was quite defensively aware to hold on to the lead.
While Liverpool played their second team against Norwich and won with ease winning 3-0. With two goals scored by Takumi Minamino in the 4th and 80th minute respectively. The other goal being scored by Divock Origi. Liverpool only had three shots on target, each leading to a goal while Norwich took 5.
Chelsea vs Aston Villa || Tottenham vs Wolves
In the Chelsea game against Aston Villa in the EFL round 3, the match at the full time ended in a draw. The game was taken directly to penalties instead of extra time. Chelsea won on penalties by 4-3 goals with Kepa Arrizabalaga saving Marvelous Nakamba penalty. While Chelsea had 60% of the possession of the ball, each team took 7 shots on target during the game.
During the Tottenham game against Wolves, Tottenham started the scoring in the game with Harry Kane scoring the second goal. Wolves did get back scoring a goal in each half. During the Penalties, Tottenham won 3-2. This was so as, within Wolves, Conor Coady and Leander Dendoncker missed their penalties by shooting them off target.
