The thrilling and extraordinary Premier League season finally came to its conclusions on the 23rd of May 2021. With Manchester City running away with the league title at the end, the last day was all about the Top-4 spots. Along with the two Manchester sides, it was Liverpool and Chelsea who finished their campaign in the Top-4.

There are many individual performances that helped their team to win some of the most crucial games of the season. And combining these individual talents would make a great team of the season 2020-21.

Goalkeeper:

Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa):

The Argentine International was probably the signing of the season for Aston Villa. Martinez managed 16 clean sheets for Villa and thus also equalled Brad Friedel’s record to achieve such a feat in a single top-flight season. Martinez’s sticky gloves and his unrivaled skill in catching shots and crosses make him the goalkeeper of the season.

Defenders:

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool):

The England International had a lot of ups and downs throughout the season but he still remains to be one of the best-attacking defenders in the world of football currently. Apart from the defending aspects, Trent provides a lot in the attacking aspects of the game as well. He scored two important goals and also provided 7 assists, helping his side to end up in the Top-4.

John Stones (Manchester City):

The England International only made 22 appearances but was very effective whenever he was given the opportunity. He definitely makes that defence line look solid and helped his team to achieve 19 clean sheets. He was also effective in the attacking department scoring 4 times this season.

Ruben Dias (Manchester City):

The Portuguese was the signing of the season for Pep Guardiola. He played at the heart of the defence for Manchester City and proved to be the reason for their success this season. Dias helped the side achieve 19 clean sheets this season and helped City to clinch their 7th League title.

Luke Shaw (Manchester United):

No doubt the Englishman was outstanding throughout the season. Shaw is finally fulfilling his potential under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. His impressive performance also named him in the England Squad for the upcoming Euros. Shaw, with five Premier League assists, looks almost certain to start for England at left-back this summer.

Midfield:

Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United):

The Portuguese International has become a star now. He is probably the player of the season for Manchester United. Fernandes’ return to Premier League proved to be a game-changer for the Red Devils. He scored 18 goals and set his team players 11 times in this year’s Premiers League season. Although many tag him to be overrated pointing out the fact that 9 of those goals were from the penalty spot. However, nobody would deny that he is really a world-class playmaker.

Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City):

Even after being injured for approx 10 games this season the Belgium International was right up there in the top 3 assist makers of the League. De Bruyne made only 25 appearances this season and thus was the heart of Manchester City’s midfield. He scored valuable 6 goals and thus provided 12 assists thus helping Man City in becoming the champions of England.

Mason Mount (Chelsea):

Probably the most consistent player for Chelsea this season. The stats might not reflect his performance but he is arguably the most developed player this season in the Premier League. Mount made 36 appearances for the Blues this season finding the net 6 times and setting his teammates 5 times.

Forwards:

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool):

The Egyptian King might be slightly out of touch but he still managed to found the net 22 times making him 2nd in the golden boot list this season. Salah had a lot of ups and downs this season so did his team but was regularly able to score goals for Liverpool. His remarkable goal-scoring record earns him a place in the team of the season.

Harry Kane (Tottenham):

The so-called player of the season the Englishman was exceptionally brilliant this season. The 27-year-old has always fancied himself in the role of a number 10 than a number nine. However, He showed what he can do if he played as a number 9. The England international was the top assist maker and the top goal scorer in the league this season.

Tottenham Hotspur might have ended their season trophyless but their striker was awarded two individual awards one of the golden boot and the other of the playmaker of the season. Scoring 23 goals and making 14 assists in his 35 appearances this season he is definitely the first choice of everybody to be named in the player of the season.

Son Heung-min (Tottenham):

The South Korean star forward had one of the best seasons of his career this season. Son found the net 17 times and also helped in setting his teammates 7 times in this season of the Premier League. In the end, his form dipped and Gareth Bale made the headlines as Tottenham sneaked into the Europa Conference League. But Son’s influence in the early parts of the season was remarkable thus earning him a place in the team of the season.
