Enzo Fernandez is linked with Chelsea since the beginning of the January transfer window. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is expected to be very busy for the next few days. With the transfer window coming to an end the Blues would look to sign a midfielder that they desperately need. The Blues look to bolster their midfield before the January transfer window ends. Chelsea’s hunt for a centre midfielder has taken priority again in the last few days of the transfer window. Despite signing six new players, they have failed to reinforce the midfield which many fans think should be the priority. Enzo Fernandez seemed to be on the verge to sign for the Blues. The midfielder have shown interest in a move to Premier League with Chelsea being keen on signing the player. But his £106m release clause seems to be a major hurdle for the Blues.

Enzo Fernandez could end up joining Chelsea if his release clause is met

Chelsea have now turned their focus to reinforcing the midfield of the team. They have already made a bid for Brighton player Moises Caicedo. Though that bid was rejected by Brighton but Chelsea are believed to try again. Enzo Fernandez was linked with the Blues since the World Cup. The interest was later believed to have cooled down after the negotiations between the clubs collapsed. However new reports claim Chelsea are preparing a new bid for Enzo Fernandez before the January transfer window ends. Although it is believed that Benfica are not ready to budge from their stance on the midfielder. Therefore Chelsea would have to spend an extra £106m on the player. Benfica have maintained their stance throughout the transfer window. Any club interested in the midfielder will have to pay the release clause for the transfer to go through.

The Portuguese transfer window closes two days after the English transfer window closes. This gives the Portuguese club some extra time to replace Enzo Fernandez should the transfer goes through. With only a week left to the transfer window, Chelsea would have to buckle up if they want to sign their desired players. As these signings would have an impact on the rest of the season.
