According to reports, Real Madrid are at risk of seeing their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland snubbed by the Norwegian.
Erling Haaland is widely expected to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer. As the Dortmund star will have a release clause in his contract next summer of €75 million. Haaland remains one of the most sought-after players in world football.
Real Madrid are thought to be one of the frontrunners for his signature. However, Real Madrid are expected to prioritise a free transfer for Kylian Mbappe in the summer of 2022, and their interest in the Frenchman could complicate matters with regards to Haaland.
According to reports, Haaland wants to be seen as a ‘leader’ at his next club, and there are no guarantees that he would be willing to share the spotlight with Mbappe at the Bernabeu. As a result, Real are at risk of losing out in the race for the 21-year-old.
A whole host of Europe’s heavyweights are said to be vying for the Norway superstar’s signature. Manchester United, PSG, Man City, are also believed to be interested in the striker. The three sides were handed a further boost in their pursuit of Haaland earlier this week, with Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta admitting that there is “absolutely no chance” of the striker moving to Serie A.
Manchester United are on the lookout for another star striker despite having re-signed Cristiano Ronaldo already this summer. While Manchester City are still without a star striker having lost Sergio Aguero in the summer. And also missing out on signing Harry Kane this summer. PSG are set to lose Kylian Mbappe next summer and may look at Haalanfd to replace the French forward.
Erling Haaland to stay at Dortmund for another season or is he on his way to Real Madrid?
On the other hand, The former Middlesbrough striker and Pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft insists Haaland remains uncertain about his future. He told Bild Live: “I think the Haaland team and the family don’t know where he’s going. The football world is changing. There are so many things that affect that.
“They don’t know where he will play in the 2021-22 season. “Haaland and his team are always looking for development. And if that is the case in Dortmund, he will stay there.”
Haaland has netted a stunning 68 goals in 67 games since signing for Dortmund from FC Salzburg in January 2020. And has already scored 11 goals and four assists from eight games this term.
