Everton are targeting the Chelsea defender, Trevoh Chalobah, after the player was reportedly told to leave the club this summer. Chalobah was a prominent player under Thomas Tuchel, making regular starts, even in the important matches. He was clearly emerging as a strong player under the German manager. However, since Tuchel’s departure last season, the defender has struggled with his game time. Once recognised as a player for Chelsea’s future, has now been told to find a new club.

Sean Dyche and his men survived relegation by the narrowest of margins last season. To ensure the same thing doesn’t happen this time around, they are reportedly planning to make multiple new signings in this summer transfer market. Chalobah is amongst the top targets that The Toffees are planning to bring in this summer.

Chelsea have set a price of £40 million for Chalobah

According to The Chelsea Chronicle, The Blues will ask for a fee of £40 million for Trevoh. The 24-year Englishman is attracting a lot of interest this summer. Being an intelligent defender, strong in duels as well, Chalobah is highly rated by multiple clubs in Europe. His incredible performances against tough opponents like Man City, Liverpool and others, has proved him as an incredible defensive talent.

Recently it was reported that West Ham United are the frontrunners to sign Chalobah. They are pushing to secure a deal for Chalobah before their first match of the new season, against Bournemouth. However, with Chelsea willing to offload the player, the deal-breaker could be West Ham’s desire to sign Chalobah on loan instead of a permanent transfer. This comes as a positive news for Everton, in their attempts to secure a deal for the defender.

It will be a tough deal to crack for Everton

Everton are well aware of the competition they are facing in the race for Chalobah. Apart from them and West Ham, PL club Crystal Palace are reportedly also plotting an offer for Chalobah. Outside of the Premier League, they face competition from big clubs like Monaco, Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Napoli. Also, spending a big amount of £40 million, on just one player will be a very difficult task for Everton, as they are targeting more than just one signing in this transfer window. According to reports, they also are pursuing a deal for Patson Daka from Leicester and Youssef Chermiti from Sporting. Therefore, considering all the factors, signing Chalobah will be quite challenging for the Toffees.
