Steven Gerrard will resume his rivalry against Manchester United in the third round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford. Aston Villa will travel to Manchester in hope of replicating their win earlier in the season.
This would be the pick of the games as there are not many stand-out draws in the early part of the tournament.
Manchester United has rejuvenated since the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Winning three games and drawing two in the five games they have played since.
The new interim manager got off to a winning start in the Premier League. They defeated a mid-table Crystal Palace side in a controlled 1-0 victory at home.
Aston Villa has also fared well since the appointment of Steven Gerrard as head coach. They have won three of the four games since he has been in charge, losing only to a very strong Manchester City side.
This game will be a good test for the teams, and it will be a decent way to start their FA Cup campaign.
In the other games, European Champions Chelsea host non-league side Chesterfield. Liverpool to play against Shrewsbury.
Arsenal will go up against Nottingham Forrest at The City Ground. Nottingham Forrest knocked out Arsenal from the FA Cup the last time they met at the City Ground. That game also turned out to be the last FA Cup game for Arsene Wenger as an Arsenal manager.
English Champions Manchester City will travel to Swindon Town. The defending Champions Leicester City will play Premier League side, Watford.
In-form West Ham United will take on Leeds in what should be another intriguing match-up. Tottenham Hotspurs will face League 1 side, Morecambe.
The third round of the FA Cup will be played between 7th to 10th January 2022.
