Fabrizio Romano reveals Conte’s stance on joining Manchester United

Via his Twitch streams, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about the managerial situation at Manchester United.

Speculation surrounds Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time at the club being discussed at length. He will be in charge against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday and has one last chance to rectify Man Utd’s dismal form. With possibly two more games to prove himself, this is really the Norwegian’s eleventh hour.

One of the names in contention to replace Ole, if United are to sack their former forward is Antonio Conte.

Fabrizio Romano on the Manchester United job…

In his stream, Romano had the following things to say:

“I have been told also yesterday, Antonio wants to go to Manchester United. He is dreaming of this Manchester United job, he would love to join.

“Of course, it’s respecting Solskjaer’s work, but if Man United will call on Antonio Conte he’s going to be ready to accept and to try this new experience.”

Ole’s side have managed to secure only one point from their last four Premier League games. While the Norwegian is under tremendous pressure, the club is being linked with high-profile managers Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane.

However, Conte seems to be the favourite for the position. The former Inter Milan manager, led them to the Serie A title and has previously masterminded Chelsea‘s Premier League success in 2017. The 52-yrs-old manager seems to have full confidence believing that he can win the Champions League at Man Utd.

The Italian does not have a track record of staying at clubs for a lengthy period. The most games managed during one spell at a club by him is 106 at Chelsea.

There is still 29 games to go this season leaving United plenty of time to turn around their shaky start to the campaign. However, would Conte prove to be a long-term replacement if he was appointed?
