Fan asks jersey from Dhawan: his response won hearts

The third ODI against Zimbabwe at Harare, on Monday, saw some sweet gestures from Shikhar Dhawan. A fan from the crowd showed a placard to the camera asking the batter’s jersey. Replying to that, Dhawan almost took of his jersey to gift the fan. However he settled down later.

Shikhar Dhawan went on to open India’s innings at the Harare Sports Club. However, there was something unusual about the Jersey he was wearing. He wore a tapped jersey. The jersey was of Shardul Thakur’s. The staff members had put a tape on the name. However, the reason behind wearing Shardul’s Jersey is unknown. Nonetheless, the jersey caught the utmost attention of a fan in attendance.

Shikhar Dhawan however got out. He was sitting, relaxing with his Avesh Khan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul in one of the stands. It was Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan who was carrying forward the team’s scores. Meanwhile, in the 27th over, the fan popped up in the camera. He was holding a placard which said, ‘Shikhar, Can I have yo’ur’ shirt?’

The camera was focusing that fan with full enthusiasm. However, it finally caught Dhawan’s attention. Dhawan gave probably the sweetest reaction. He, then was wearing a practice jersey. He got ready to take off his shirt. But later, he changed his mind. He put it down, and smiled. His teammates laughed along with him.

However, such reactions from Dhawan gave some laughter relief to the commentary box too. Moreover, renowned sports presenter and commentator Alan Wilkins laughed at this. On air he encouraged Dhawan saying,
“Get along, Shikhar. Make a donation,”

Dhawan, in the second ODi of scored 40 vital runs. After that, Sean Williams caught him off Brad Evan’ ball. Winning the toss, KL Rahul decided to bat first . However, KL departed by scoring just 1 run. Afterwards, it was a Gill-Kisan show. From 84/2, the duo batted and added 101 runs to the scoreboard. In the 37th over India reached 182.
