Recent reports suggest that FC Barcelona are showing interest in signing Chelsea forward Christian Pulisic. The club feels that the player will consider a move due to his lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge.

In recent times, Christian Pulisic has emerged as a top forward. The former Borussia Dortmund forward has not failed to impress in the Premier League. However, the American’s time at Chelsea has been quite cruel with the player facing back-to-back injuries.

Owing to the fact that Barcelona are struggling in their forward department, they are in the market looking for quality forwards. An enormous competition at the London side and a need for redemption could push Pulisic closer to Spain.

Pulisic’s struggles at Chelsea

The 23-year-old forward joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in 2019 for a fee of £58m. The transfer made him the most expensive American player. He surely justified his worth after scoring his first goals for the Blues with a perfect hat-trick against Burnley. Even though he had a decent start in the 2019/20 season with 5 goals and 2 assists in 12 Premier League games, his injury gave him a major setback.

The Champions League winner missed 9 league games with an Abductor muscle injury. He returned and ended the season with 9 goals and 6 assists in the league. The following season came even worse as he faced another injury. He kept recovering and getting injured, ending the season with 4 goals and 2 assists in the league. (stats via TRANSFERMARKT)

It hasn’t been easy for the young American to guarantee his spot in the Blues lineup due to squad depth as well. With the likes of Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Timo Werner all competing for a place, the player needs to show his consistency.

Should the Blues transfer Pulisic out to Barcelona?

Pulisic has very rare qualities as he is an elite dribbler and is clinical near the penalty box. His chance creation ability is also remarkable as he can find a teammate from difficult positions on the pitch with ease.

With that being the case, the American’s exit will be a huge blow for Chelsea. His services might be crucial for the Blues in order to compete for trophies on all fronts. It is believed that Pulisic will play a huge role if he remains fit throughout the season.

With Barca’s growing problems in the forward department, it is no surprise that the club is interested in Pulisic. Ansu Fati’s injuries, Luuk de Jong’s lack of input, and Sergio Aguero’s unfortunate retirement have all contributed heavily towards the team’s troubles. However, the club amy not be able to afford the American star, with London Giants valuing him for no less than £42m.
