According to reports, Brazilian club Fluminense are interested in bringing back Thiago Silva back to the club next summer.
Thiago Silva at 37 is proving many doubters wrong including previous club PSG who let him go on a free transfer. Silva has been a key figure at the back for Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea. The Brazilian centre half has made 43 appearances in all competitions since signing for the club and has nine appearances this term already.
The veteran defender started his youth career at Fluminense back in 1998. He made a total of 143 appearances for Fluminense before moving to AC Milan for €10m. Since then he has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world.
Initial talks started betweeen Fluminense and Thiago Silva
Thiago Silva is out of contract next summer. And it is highly unlikely that he will extend his stay in England for another season. Clubs are allowed to enter pre-contract talks with him in January. And reports suggest that Fluminense have already started initial talks to bring Silva back home.
Silva has won Serie A with Milan, seven Ligue 1 titles with PSG and won the Champions League in his first season with Chelsea. Young defenders like Malang Sarr and Trevoh Chalobah have shown that they can take over from the veteran defender after his departure. Trevoh Chalobah has been a sensation at the back for Chelsea when key defenders were out with injury.
Thirteen years after his move to AC Milan. Thiago Silva looks set for an emotional second homecoming to Fluminense. Similarly, according to reports Thiago Silva is open to a move back to Fluminense.
The talks between Silva and Fluminense are still at an initial stage. And are expected to heat up after January. Thiago Silva looks all set to play the final phase of his career back at the club he started his career at.
