Former Chelsea player says Christropher Nkunku might struggle for his place in the Chelsea squad

Former Chelsea man Scott Minto says it will be tough for Christropher Nkunku to get a place in Chelsea squad. Minto said Nkunku has no one to replace in the current forward lineup. Chelsea are already on fire with their forwards Nikolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling so far. All of them scored in the 4-4 draw against Manchester City. Moreover, their rotation man Mykhailo Mudryk has also been an asset at times. Speaking on talkSPORT, Minto has questioned where the Frenchman will start after his return. He said,

Honestly, I am thinking just as I’m sitting down… Nkunku to come back sounds great, but who does he replace? Cole Palmer probably has been Chelsea’s best player. Raheem Sterling you could argue is Chelsea’s best player at the moment and how he’s not in the England squad I don’t know. I think something has happened there.

I don’t know where Nkunku gets in, maybe for Jackson himself but I think the way he is scoring… But what you do have is strength in depth.”

The question by Minto is worth a thought for Nkunku

Chelsea paid a heavy sum of £52m to sign Nkunku from RB Leipzig this summer. The French international has been a menace for the defenders in the Bundesliga. Nkunku scored 36 goals in 59 appearances during his Bundesliga tenure. However, he got injured at the start of his Premier League campaign. Despite this, it is a sure deal that he will have a good run of games in the near future for The Blues. Though, it will be worth noticing whom he will replace.

Many believe that Conor Gallagher might be the one making way for him. But his display in the game against City was phenomenal. He was undoubtedly the protagonist for Jackson’s first goal. It will be harsh on him if Pochettino decides to bench him. Perhaps, it will be a big question for the Argentine manager as well. Nevertheless, Nkunku can bring a lot on the field with his flair. It will surely be a hard choice for the team management to drop a man and make space for the former Leipzig man.
