The IPL mega auction is just a few weeks away and franchisees are gearing up to build a mighty squad ahead of IPL 13. In a major development, former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun has been roped in by IPL 14 runners-up KKR for the role of the bowling coach.

Arun had a successful tenure as a member of Team India’s coaching staff from 2014 to 2021. In his term, he groomed pacers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and many more, therefore was often referred to as one of the key architects of building one of the best bowling units of the current generation.

Bharat Arun featured in 2 Tests and 4 ODIs for India. He was a veteran in the domestic circuit for Tamil Nadu. KKR Head Coach and Former New Zealand Skipper Brendon McCullum hailed the appointment of Bharat Arun by saying,

“A warm welcome to B Arun to the KKR coaching staff. With a strong and successful pedigree in the international game, I’m sure Arun will complement the current staff we have and I look forward to working with him. His experience at international level and the ability to give confidence and clarity to our bowling group will be important, as we attempt to quickly align a new group of players to the values and style of play for KKR”

Venky Mysore, CEO, and MD of KKR shared his excitement about having Bharat Arun onboard,

“We are very excited to have someone of the calibre of Bharat Arun joining us as our bowling coach. He will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to KKR’s strong support staff. We are delighted to welcome him to the Knight Riders family.” he stated.

The journey ahead for KKR

Bharat Arun too spoke on his objectives as the KKR bowling Coach,

“I’m very excited and looking forward to becoming part of a highly successful franchise, such as the Knight Riders. I have admired the Knight Riders franchise for not only being very successful in the IPL & around the world in T20 leagues but also for the way it is very professionally run,”

KKR have been one of the most successful franchises in IPL. Despite a few hiccups in 2019 and 2020, the team under Eoin Morgan ended as the runners-up in IPL 2021. With two new franchises entering the league, the fight is all set to be tougher. But KKR will definitely back themselves to go KORBO LORBO JEETBO once again.
