Former Manchester United player and now football pundit Rio Ferdinand has urged the Manchester United board to go after Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel in the summer.

Manchester United look set to undergo another rebuilding process in the summer. The club are also on the lookout for a new manager after they sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjær midway through the season. The new manager looks set to be at the centre of the rebuild expected around Old Trafford at the start of the next season.

The club are scouting a variety of different managers from across Europe. The likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, Luis Enrique, and Roberto Mancini are all on the club’s list. The recent sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich meant that the player and manager’s future are in massive doubt.

Many Manchester United legends have advised the club to go after the Chelsea manager. Rio Ferdinand is the latest former red to advise the club to go after the Chelsea manager in the summer transfer window. The Chelsea manager has been advised to snub the European champions in favor of a switch to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

But the club takeover is set to be done in the next four to six weeks. It seems like the Chelsea faithful will know their faith in the next few weeks. Firstly, The manager has shown no real interest in a switch away from Stamford Bridge. Secondly, as things stand Manchester United will find it really difficult to lure the manager away from the European champions.

What did Rio Ferdinand say about the Manchester United manager situation?

Talking about the potential next Manchester United manager on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand said:

“I’m taking Tuchel man. I don’t care,” “If the roles were reversed and Man United were there and had Tuchel as a sitting duck at our football club. We are presuming he’s a sitting duck from the reports we are hearing.”

“If that was the case and the roles were reversed, trust me. Firslty, Roman and the empire would knock down the door. They wouldn’t even knock down the door, they’d run round the side and take him. Tuchel would be the one. Also he’s got the pedigree.”

“He’s shown already that he can come into this league, he’s adapted straight away. Similarly he’s won the Champions League, he can galvanise a squad. Above all, he can get them playing. In addition, he can create a culture, create a togetherness. Also he’s got discipline.”
