Former wicketkeeper’s warning for India ahead of T20 WC: ‘Earlier Pakistan had no chance of beating us in World Cups’

Cricket

All cricketing fans are awaiting for the eighth edition of the t20 World Cup. This edition is going to be hosted by defending champions. The world will witness many clashes as well as a rivalry. The most awaited will be the India-Pakistan rivalry. They had 2 face-offs already in Asia Cup 2022. Both the team won 1 out 2 matches in Asia Cup and 2 encounters were thriller ones. In the upcoming world cup, the tournament will kick off with this rivalry only. India’s former wicketkeeper warned India against Pakistan ahead of the t20WC.

Parthiv Patel warning for India against Pakistan.

India is going to play against Pakistan in the opening match of the t20 World Cup. This is going to be another thriller as 2 rival teams will play against each other. India is ranked 1st in the t20 ranking and Pakistan is ranked 3rd in the t20 ranking. India faced Pakistan twice in Asia Cup 2022. Unfortunately, both could not win the tournament.

Parthiv Patel’s statement:

” It is very important to start a tournament on a high. These are not long tournaments. In the 50-over World Cup, there is still time to make up for one defeat. But in the T20 World Cup you lose one and you start doubting your whole method and everything comes into play. The chances of coming back in the tournament becomes very less. We talk about teams coming back in the IPL and that is because they are playing about 14 games. Here we have to beat at least one of Pakistan or South Africa. It is the same for Pakistan as well. They will come out with a different mindset. They were not expecting to beat India by 10 wickets in the last World Cup. Now that they have beaten India once in the Asia Cup and before that in the T20 World Cup, they would be thinking differently. They would be thinking that they can beat this side. Before that they had no chance of beating India in World Cup games for a long time. So that will be a different challenge for India.”

Pakistan defeated India in last year’s World Cup 2021 and ended their drought. But they still have to show good performances in all 3 departments to register their win. India similarly will want to take revenge and start the tournament on a high note. Notably both the teams faced each other twice in Asia Cup, so they are well known for each other strengths and weaknesses. It will be a strong competitive match against 2 rivals. It will be a new challenge for both teams.
