Fraser Forster has reportedly agreed to a two-year contract from Tottenham Hotspurs. Moreover, he is going to sign for free from Southampton. His contract ended at the end of this season and, therefore, he became a free agent.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper is understood to be one of the two free agents to be heading to Spurs. Another free transfer is said to be Ivan Perisic who is in final talks with Spurs and should join soon. Footballer Insider reports that Forster has already completed his medical. Therefore, the announcement would be done in no matter of time.

The announcement would be made as soon as he has agreed to terms that run into 2024. It was earlier already revealed that the English goalkeeper has agreed to a pay cut to join Spurs. He was signed by Southampton back in 2017 for a deal worth £5million. His weekly income was close to £100,000. Tottenham are bringing in a new goalkeeper as they decided not to turn Peirluigi Gollini’s loan term into a permanent deal.

How important would Fraser Forster be to Tottenham Hotspurs?

Spurs went for a seasoned goalkeeper this season who has vast experience of playing in the Premier League. He had a hugely successful outing with the Celtic where he played on loan from 2010 to 2012.

Forster was the first team goalkeeper for Saints for the latter half of the season. He took over from Alex McCarthy and appeared in 19 games out of the 24 that the Saints played in all competitions. The English international missed the last two matches of the campaign as he did not extend his contract with the club.

He is being brought to Spurs primarily as a cover and also competition for Hugo Lloris. Lloris has been Spurs’ established number one goalkeeper for many a year now. Moreover, he started in every game of the Premier League this season for Spurs.
