As reported, Fraser Forster has agreed to a deal with Tottenham Hotspurs. The 34-year-old goalkeeper’s contract with Southampton expires at the end of next month. After that, he will become a free agent.

Spurs are said to have pounced for the English international as his contract expires. Spurs need an experienced backup goalkeeper who would step up when Hugo Lloris is absent. Forster seems to be the perfect guy to take up that place. He has a rich experience of playing in quite a few clubs in England.

Though Lloris is the established number one goalkeeper for Spurs, still they need a good backup to cover up for him. It is understood that Forster has agreed to the deal from Spurs. Moreover, he has also accepted a pay cut to play for the club.

How important Fraser Forster will be to the Tottenham Hotspurs team

Forster was signed by Southampton back in 2017. Back then he was worth £5million and received £100,000-a-week. Spurs have gone for Forster for his experience as understood. He has spent a large amount of time in the Premier League.

He has had a successful outing with the Celtics as well where he played on loan. Although Forster was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Saints for the majority of the season. There he had taken over from Alex McCarthy in December.

After that, he got the nod to play in 19 matches out of the 24 that the Saints played in all competitions. Unfortunately, he was benched for the last two matches after he decided not to extend his contract with the Saints.

At Spurs, he is set to provide backup support for Lloris. Lloris started every match for Spurs this season. Moreover, they finished fourth in the Premier League which means that they would have the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season.
