Wolves to cash in on Adams Free transfer

Wolves boss Gary O’Neil in his pre-match press conference after his side’s 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace said: “I don’t think there will be money available to us if nobody leaves. I wouldn’t expect it to be a summer where we spend millions of the club’s own money on players. I think it won’t be the same as last year where we have to sell loads and make a huge profit, but I wouldn’t expect it to be a spending spree.” Adams signed for Southampton in 2019 from Birmingham in a £15million deal. However he came close to leave St Mary’s last year after Everton put a £12m bid for the 27-year-old striker’s services.

Adams was offered a three-and-a-half year deal by Southampton to stay at St Mary’s. He was also promised to get the perk of vice captaincy. Adams said in an interview back in March: “Southampton will always play a part in our lives and especially my daughter’s life. A club like Southampton is a Premier League team. Any team that’s come here this season can see how well established and how big the club is. In terms of fanbase and in terms of the staff around the place as well. It’s a Premier League club. For me personally, it’s just about. I said it in a statement at the end of last season. Getting the club back to where it should be again because that’s where we deserve to be.”

Adams future still uncertain despite interests
