Manchester United is in heavy pursuit of Frenkie De Jong this summer. New manager Erik Ten Hag wants the former Ajax player to consolidate the midfield at old Trafford. Manchester United and Barcelona have agreed on a deal for the player as well. However, De Jong is reluctant to leave Barcelona this summer. He has told his teammates at Nou that he is not interested in leaving Barcelona
Manchester United are on the lookout for a new central defensive midfielder this season. This means De Jong has emerged as the priority signing for United under Ten Hag. Fabrizio Romano has also informed us that Barcelona and Manchester United have reached an agreement regarding the midfielder.
They have guaranteed a €75m fee with options for add ons which makes the package worth €85m overall. However, personal terms have not yet been agreed to by the player. De Jong’s priority is to remain in Barcelona.
Frenkie De Jong has told his Barcelona team mates that he has no interest in leaving Camp Nou.
De Jong has said it time and again: he is content staying at Camp Nou. His agent has informed Manchester United CEO Richard Arnold that they should look for a midfielder someplace else. However, now Barcelona wants him to leave following the conclusion of the long drawn-out negotiation with United.
Earlier they had a discussion with the player and his agent about the club’s position regarding De Jong. The club has told Frenkie De Jong that it is fundamental to the club’s finances that De Jong should accept United’s offer. But, the Dutchman is staying firm in his decision of not to join United.
According to a report in Sport, De Jong has told his teammates that it is impossible for him to leave Spain. “It is impossible for me to leave. How am I going to leave Barca?” De Jong has said to his teammates. De Jong and his girlfriend recently brought a house in Barcelona and are loving their stay there. Now, to force him to transfer out of Barcelona, they are considering leaving De Jong out of their pre-season tour of the US.
