Fulham vs Millwall: Match preview, team news and predicted line-up

tennis player

Fulham will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table as they host Millwall at the Craven Cottage in the Championship. The two teams last met in August of last year when Fulham came out 1-2 victors. Mitrovic and Carvalho gave Fulham a two-goal lead inside ten minutes. Afobe got one back for the home side in the 87th minute, but it was too little too late.

Millwall have failed to beat Fulham in their last seven competitive meetings, losing five and drawing two. Their last win against Fulham came in 2014.

The home team recently got knocked out of the 4th round of the FA Cup by English champions Manchester City. It was a little surprising to see Marco Silva field a strong starting XI considering they play a midweek game right away.

Despite their Cup exit, Fulham are doing exceedingly well in the Championship. They are unbeaten in their last five games in the league, winning four and drawing one. They scored an astonishing 23 goals in these five matches.

Fulham are now top of the table with 58 points, 5 clear of second-placed Blackburn Rovers.

Millwall on the other hand are having a turbulent season. They have only won one of their last five league games, drew one, and lost three. They recently played out a goal-less draw against Preston. This draw leaves them 15th on the table with 37 points, 17 points clear of the drop zone.

Gary Rowett will take some relief from the fact that they have kept two consecutive clean sheets in their last two games. They could build on those results by getting something out of this game despite being the underdogs.

Fulham vs Millwall: Team news

Fulham

Antonee Robinson should make a return to the first team after missing the last week due to international duty. Apart from that Marco Silva will have a fully fit squad at his disposal.

Fulham fielded a quite strong squad against Manchester City in their FA Cup game. Barring any new injuries, we could see a similar starting XI in this game as well.

Possible Fulham starting line-up

Rodak; Williams, Adarabioyo, Ream, Robinson; Reed, Cairney; Wilson, Carvalho, Kebano; Mitrovic

Millwall

Millwall will be without the services of Sheyi Ojo, Tom Bradshaw, Jed Wallace, Daniel Ballard, and Ryan Leonard who are all sidelined due to injuries.

Jed Wallace could be brought back into the starting line-up by manager Gary Rowett.

Possible Millwall starting line-up

Bialkowski; Cooper, Hutchinson, M. Wallace; McNamara, Mitchell, Kieftenbeld, Malone; Freeman, J. Wallace; Afobe

Our Prediction

Fulham 3-1 Millwall

Fulham are firm favourites in this game and they should come away with all three points quite comfortably. Despite Millwall keeping clean sheets in their last two games, it is very difficult to see them get a result in this game.

Fulham are in terrific goal-scoring form in the league. They have scored 74 goals in 28 games so far, which is a testament to their attacking prowess. Their home record is only second to Blackburn Rovers, which is a huge advantage for them in this game. It should be a comfortable win for the home side.
