Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has heartily welcomed new signing Marquinhos after the club officially confirmed it.

The Gunners confirmed the deal of the 19-year-old yesterday. The deal includes a four-year contract with the option of extending it by one year.

Moreover, the fee is said to be around £3million.

Marquinhos was part of the squad that won the Campeonato Paulista in 2021 after he made his first-team debut with Sao Paolo.

The Brazilian forward has represented his nation in under-16 and under-17 campaigns.

Arsenal will be having a busy summer transfer window. Moreover, Mikel Arteta would look to strengthen his attacking options.

He has to deal with the departures of experienced strikers like Lacazette and Aubameyang. Moreover, players like Matteo Guendouzi and  Konstantinos have also left the club on permanent deals.

The futures of Nicolas Pepe, Maitland-Niles, Hector Bellerin, and Lucas Torreira all hang in balance. However, Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has been heavily linked to the Gunners in recent weeks.

If that deal fructifies then Arsenal could see another Brazilian joining their ranks.

Therefore, Arteta is desperate to restructure the team and get back to the old glory days.

What did Gabriel Martinelli write on his Instagram page about new signing Marquinhos?

Martinelli was quick to welcome his Brazilian compatriot to the Gunners. He posted a status on his Instagram page that read: “Welcome brother, we are together.”

Martinelli made a similar move to the Premier League from the Brazilian League back in 2019. Therefore, he would be able to help acclimatize Marquinhos with the surroundings and play in England.

Marquinhos sent an emotional farewell message to his former club Sao Paolo through his Instagram page. In the message, he thanked the club and the fans and admitted that he would ‘never not be a fan’ of the club.
