Gary Neville have stated that he ‘never’ had Manchester United pinned as the Premier League title winners this season. Furthermore he had never said that United could win the title ahead of Arsenal or Manchester City. Manchester United were recently thrashed 7-0 by Liverpool at Anfield. Arsenal fans are however on cloud 9 with their recent 3-2 win against Bournemouth. And without the doubt their happiness would have extended after watching Manchester United’s loss at Anfield. The main reason for it will be that Gary Neville has time and again made it clear that Arsenal will not win the Premier League. But he has also said that Manchester United will finish ahead of Arsenal this season. Therefore this has irked many Gunners fans. Perhaps Gary Neville will now change his mind about this predictions.
Gary Neville clarifies his stance after Manchester United defeat to Liverpool
This loss has been the worst in the Manchester United history. And as a result to this, United are now 14 points below Arsenal. This has Gary Neville going back on his words now. The Pundit was asked about his top two this season after United’s loss to Liverpool. Gary Neville commented, “I never had them down as title winners, to be fair, not at one point this season” He further continued, “I think it’s a miracle that Erik ten Hag has got them where he has, so that’s not a disappointment, for me today. It’s more of a surprise in the second half. This is out of character.” Any hopes the United fans had of winning the title, should be out of the window now. Manchester United fans were very well hoping to rival for the title race after the Carabao Cup win.
This is indeed devastating for the Manchester United fans. However this might not be a good news for Arsenal. As they are to face Liverpool next month at Anfield. The Gunners do not have a bright history of their past visits to Anfield.
