Gary Neville says Manchester United is scrappy and scruffy to watch

Manchester United suffered their latest defeat against Leicester City in the Premier League and former Man United captain, Gary Neville is utterly disappointed by the club’s performance. Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said Manchester United’s performance is scrappy and scruffy to watch. As the Red Devils struggled to win against decent Leicester City, despite having big names in the starting X1.

United played their 8th match in the Premier League as they face Leicester City, looking to continue their 29 games unbeaten streak away from home. But the foxes were clever to end Man United’s streak by slapping them with a 4-2 scoreline. Following this defeat, the Red Devils are currently without a win in their last three league matches.

While, former Manchester United captain and player, Gary Neville has hit out with some harsh comments as United suffered defeat against Foxes. Neville speaking to Sky Sports said, “The performances have been so shoddy all season in terms of team performances.”

“There’s been some good results and some great individual goals. But the overall performances and the unit in and out of possession have been shoddy. “It’s scrappy and scruffy to watch. When you play a team with a clear organization and a methodology, you’re going to get pulled apart and that’s what happened.”

“Manchester United at this moment in time are imbalanced,” Neville added. “The performances are now getting what they deserve in terms of the results. It needs to change. The performances need to be a lot better.”

After the end of the matchday 8 in Premier League, Manchester United sits 6th in table collecting 14 points. While the Red Devils are below Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Brighton, and Tottenham Hotspur in the table.

Is Gary Neville right to call Manchester United sloppy?

The Red Devils have one of the best choices of players to deploy on the pitch who are no doubtfully a match-winner. However despite that Manchester United are still struggling in the Premier League, while they have decent form in the Champions League. But the reason for all these setbacks is difficult to point out.

United brought on Cristiano Ronaldo this summer thinking the Portuguese would give high scoring return to them. Which Ronaldo is definitely doing, but as per some football pundits, the forward is slowing down United’s counter-attacks. The pundits believe that being a 36-year-old and leading the attack is the main reason which is holding United back.

While some others believe that Jadon Sancho is the reason for United slowing down as the youngster is yet to have a statement performance. The Winger joined the United this summer for quite an amount of money but is yet to put out a performance that justifies his high value.

And last but not the least, some pundits believe that Raphael Varane is the reason. The French centre-back joined United this summer as the club needed a pairing for Harry Maguire at the back. But till now it seems the duo needs some time to get used to each other.

Manchester United have some big games lined up in the coming days, as they face Atalanta in the Champions League. While their next Premier League set-up is against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in October. And they have to soon gain their form back to win those matches.
