Sanjay Manjrekar says ‘Great captaincy too from Steve Smith’

The regular skipper of the Australian team went back to Australia after the second test. Steve Smith captained the Aussies in the third test. Ultimately, he made the team win the match. Sanjay Manjrekar praised the captaincy of Smith after the match. Smith has won 2 matches from 5 in India.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s words in the third test

“Great captaincy too from Australia’s Steve Smith in the way he got Starc into the attack. They realized Iyer is so good against spin, let’s try him against pace. It has just disappointed me in the last and this innings as well that Jadeja came ahead of Shreyas Iyer. You can’t be doing that for left-right combination. You’ve got a proper batter, even if he is a right-hander,”

Sanjay further added,

“And Jadeja coming in as a left-hander, I can understand when you have 2-3 left-arm spinners like Bangladesh used to have in the past. Here you have two quality off-spinners bowling. It did not make any sense to me. Iyer has a great feel for spinners so you want him ahead in the line-up. And he has shown his class,”

After winning the third match of the series, the scorecard the series is 2-1 in the favour of India. The final and fourth test match is going to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The win placed the Aussies in the final of the World Test Championship. If India wins the final test match they can qualify for the WTC Final in Oval.
