Harbhajan singh wants Shikhar dhawan : India is busy playing in Asia Cup 2022. India is almost knocked out of the tournament even after topping the group stage. India could not give proper batting as well as bowling performances. This resulted in losing the crucial matches. India lost to Pakistan in a thriller and also lost to Sri Lanka due to bad performance.
Especially after losing against Sri Lanka, everyone questioned India playing 11 combinations. Indian Team Management was also questioned upon choosing this squad. Former cricketer, Harbhajan Singh told that Shikhar Dhawan should be brought back to the team in t20i.
Harbhajan Singh remark on Shikhar Dhawan
Harbhajan Singh told to media,
“Bring back Ishan Kishan and Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar has scored runs and he is consistent and the current Indian team needs that consistency. In the IPL, Dhawan scores decent runs every year. So, my opinion is to bring back players who have got runs and who know how to score runs,”.
Shikhar Dhawan once upon a time used to be a permanent member in the squad of the Indian National Team. He was the automatic choice of selectors as an opener whether it is ODI or t20. Shikhar Dhawan has stitched many good partnerships with Rohit on the international stage and even many centuries stands. He performs well in ICC tournaments. But injuries and a rough patch of his caused him to remain away from playing 11 for a long time. Although he is being considered for ODI but in the t20s he has been left out.
The growth of KL Rahul as an explosive opener, new players like Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj, and sometimes Virat opening the match makes his place occupied every time. He did perform well in IPL for 2 years. This shows he has the playing capability in t20i with a good strike rate. He can even add experience to the playing 11. As he performs well in ICC tournaments, he can be an asset too. Moreover, he can be used as a good right-hand and left-hand combination.
Harbhajan Singh further said the absence of Dinesh Karthik in playing 11. He is continuously benched and Rishabh is included in the team. It may be also because the team wants to have a right-hand left-hand combination after Jadeja’s exit in Asia Cup 2022. DK has a lot of experience and could have contributed team as a finisher.
