Harmanpreet Kaur: ‘We were 20 runs short’

As the Indian team was defeated by the home team England. The team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur blamed the failure of their own batting department. The women in blue had lost by seven wickets against the England team on Thursday.

India was restricted to a mere 122/8 while batting first at the 3rd T20 that was played. Meanwhile, all thanks to the England spinner Sophie Ecclestone who bowled some marvelous spells. Although the Indian team couldn’t make much, The England batters showed no sign of tiredness while chasing. The English batters chased down the target in 18.2 overs. The opening batters had posted a 70-run partnership. However, Sneh Rana dismissed Wyatt for 22 to break the partnership. While Dunkley continued her form and came very close to her half-century.

While talking to Harmanpreet Kaur in the post-match presentation, she said

“I think we were 20 runs short. Credit to our bowlers for keeping us in the game. Radha is someone who always wants to give 200 percent. Richa helped us to get a fighting total. We just need to stick to our strengths. One needs to have a decent total in any format of the game. We need partnerships with the bat.”

While on the other hand the winning skipper of the night. England’s Amy Jones said

“It feels really good. Proud of the entire group. It has been quite daunting. Everyone was so switched on and so ready to help. Every girl stepped up. Proud of these girls. Alice is so good. She has got all the shots. It is refreshing to see her bat. Glad that she is on our side. Sophie has been brilliant. She is a banker for us with the ball. Need to keep the intent on. Sticking to the game plan is what we will focus on going into the ODIs.”
