According to The Mirror, Manchester United are considering making a move for Tottenham striker Harry Kane. The Englishman has won many individual awards in his career but is unfortunate in the case for league titles. The 28-year-old was seeking a move away from the club just before this season but Conte’s arrival has helped him find his form again.
Kane is one of the best strikers in the world on his day but has failed his every attempt to a title with club or country. He was very close to leaving Spurs and joining Manchester City but the move fell out and he ended up staying. Although he has found his form back, there is still uncertainty whether or not Spurs will challenge for titles.
Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott believes that Harry Kane could make a move to Manchester United. He believes that United are closer to winning a trophy than Spurs are and Kane could be lured away from that. This is what Lescott had to say about Kane leaving Spurs,
“Manchester United are one club I could see trying to lure him away in summer — and I think he’d consider that very strongly.”
“For all their faults, United are closer to winning trophies than Spurs right now. Not the Premier League, but knockout competitions. You could see them winning an FA Cup or Carabao Cup.”
How can Harry Kane help Manchester United?
Edinson Cavani is highly likely to leave Manchester United at the end of this season. Moreover, Cristiano Ronaldo also has less time to keep playing at the top level. United will have to assess before they face issues of lack of strikers in the future. Kane was previously linked with United because of the quality he provides on the pitch.
Harry Kane is one good finisher both with his feet and also his head. However, he has now established himself as one of the best creators in the Premier League. Kane likes to drop in the midfield and spray passes everywhere on the pitch. He is largely involved in most of the goals that Spurs score and also play almost every match with very few absentees.
For a very long time, United has not had a striker with the level of distribution that Harry Kane has. He provides something more than just goals to the team. Although his defensive contribution is questionable, he never lacks in trying. He is quite often disappointed by his teammates at Spurs and may have succeeded more if he had made the move to City in summer.
Harry Kane is the fifth-highest goalscorer of all time in the Premier League with 178 goals and just six goals behind Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero. However, he has no trophies in his cabinet and that is a serious concern for the player. This should be high time that he leaves the club and goes where he can actually challenge for titles. Although Manchester United have also struggled a lot this season, they still have an overall better squad than Tottenham Hotspur.
