Kevin Campbell reacts on Takehiro getting picked up in starting lineup before Kieran Tierney. He said that he noticed people getting mad over the decision of Mikel Arteta to pick up Tomiyasu over Tierney. Arsenal faced Nottingham forest, the game ended with a 5-0 easy win for Arsenal. But the fans were quite annoyed by the decision of Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City this summer for the left-back position. Zinchenko is currently the first-choice left-back for the Gunners who sometimes also play in midfield. However, it seems that Tierney has now become the third choice left back after Tomiyasu.

Arsenal fans unhappy after Tomiyasu was picked up in starting lineup

Mikel Arteta showed his faith in Japanese international in the place of Tierney. Arsenal were quite frustrated with the decision after Tierney was left out of the lineup. Kevin Campbell thinks Arteta made the right call and defended his decision.

While talking to The Highbury Squad, he said:

“He’s a player who’s 100 percent committed and he’s a player, yeah he’s suffered an injury, but he’s not as injury prone as Tierney. And Tierney started in the week. The key to this is you’ve got to manage your squad. That’s what Mikel Arteta is doing,”

“And I know, I saw it, people were going absolutely mad, ‘Tierney’s this and we struggle when Tomiyasu plays’. Really? Did we? Isn’t it funny, where have they all gone?”

Campbell thinks it is good for Arteta to rotate his options. Tierney is a good fit for a traditional left-back but Tomiyasu is someone who loves to go forward and get involved in games more often. Zinchenko is also an offensive left-back who have the potential to play in midfield also. So, it depends on the kind of game Arteta wants to play which left back to choose for starting lineup.
