How United will look if Luis Enrique takes charge as the Red Devil’s next Manager

Manchester United have finally made up their mind on replacing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Luis Enrique has impressed their board. Luis Enrique has done a great job in Spain with a young squad and less experience. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done the best he can at the club since he has arrived. He was able to get United out of a dark state and refresh the club in an instant. Ole inherited an average squad when he arrived but now he has a world-class squad who can challenge for titles, but he is failing to get results from this talented squad.

The squad that he has now is much better and exciting than what he inherited. He also has some of Europe’s big names like Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, he has failed to find a way in which they can all play together. United are now 6th on the table 9 points behind the top. At this point, the players must also be frustrated with what’s going at the club.

Brendan Rodgers is the favourite to join United, however, the club is also impressed with Luis Enrique’s work. The Spanish boss was asked if he would take over Barcelona following Ronald Koeman’s sacking but was not interested in the offer. Luis Enrique is an exciting option for United as he has enjoyed great success at Barcelona including a treble in 2015. His free-flowing football is also what catches the eyes of fans and excites people to watch his clubs play.

How United can lineup under Luis Enrique?

Although David de Gea is not the first choice goalkeeper of Luis Enrique in the Spanish squad, he will most probably start for United under the same manager. De Gea will have to prove his worth under Enrique even though he has returned to his form this season. Luis Enrique likes possession-based football and often uses the 4-3-3 formation. Enrique is unlikely to make any changes to the backline but there will be tactical changes for sure.

He likes to play a dedicated holding midfielder and one attacking midfielder and a player who links attack and defence. United will have to sign a defensive midfielder as they are currently struggling in that position. However, if there are no signings made either one of Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay can play that role. Bruno Fernandes is a guaranteed starter in the midfield and would do his job to contribute in the attacking department. The other midfielder will either be Paul Pogba or Donny Van de Beek. The Spaniard can have a liking for Donny as he has come from Ajax and has a similar philosophy to Enrique’s.

Luis Enrique likes to play inverted wingers and can see Mason Greenwood start at right. While Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Anthony Martial can all start on the left. Ronaldo also has his place booked as the centre forward in the starting lineup and can be rotated with Edinson Cavani.

Manchester United lineup under the Spanish tactician

Although there are very few chances of seeing Luis Enrique at Old Trafford, it is an exciting matchup to think about. Luis Enrique can give United a way to play unlike now as they look like a team with no tactics. Enrique has shown his ability to develop young players and make them better players. United have a good amount of young talent and potential in the squad who can thrive under Luis Enrique. The Spanish boss may have rejected Barcelona’s seat but if he is asked about the seat at Manchester United, who knows what’s to come.
