Sorba Huddersfield rallied from behind to overcome 10-man Blackpool in a spectacular manner, with Thomas scoring two late goals.

Within the first minute, Jerry Yates put the visitors ahead, before Danny Ward leveled a few minutes later and Gary Madine restored Blackpool’s advantage.

After defender Jordan Gabriel was sent off shortly after the hour mark, the visitors were put under prolonged pressure.

In a stirring finish, Wales winger Thomas scored twice in the space of four minutes to seal victory for his team.

Due to a slew of postponements caused by Covid-19, this was one of just two Championship matches played on Boxing Day.

Huddersfield moved up to sixth place in the standings after their win, while Blackpool stay in 13th place after losing five of their last six games.

Yates’ eighth goal of the season gave the Seasiders the perfect start.

Josh Bowler slipped across through to Yates after Town defender Tom Lees had lost possession. Yates shot past keeper Lee Nicholls and into the far corner.

Ward’s tally for the season increased to seven as he headed home Harry Toffolo’s left-wing cross for the hosts.

On the 18th minute, Blackpool restored the lead. Near the penalty area, Keshi Anderson rode a challenge and crossed to the far post. Where Madine leaped higher than Matty Pearson to head past Nicholls.

Did the red card received by Blackbpool change it all for Huddersfield?

Worse was to come for Huddersfield as Lees was stretchered off shortly before half-time. After colliding with Madine and sustaining a hit to the face.

Town’s second-half turnaround was aided by Gabriel’s 61st-minute expulsion for a second bookable offense after a tackle on Lewis O’Brien.

After Blackpool failed to clear a corner. Thomas swapped passes with two teammates before tucking in the equalizer in the 80th minute. He then fired in the winner from 15 yards out.
