Ian Wright says Liverpool’s new signing Cody Gakpo is a ‘fantastic’ signing for the club. Cody Gakpo was also linked with Arsenal and Manchester United before he finally decided to sign with Liverpool. Ian Wright spoke about the amazing numbers that Gakpo had put up this season. Moreover, the Dutchman had an amazing World cup. He even became the first Dutch player to ever score in all three group-stage matches. As Manchester United were believed to be leading the race to sign the player.

Manchester United and Arsenal were also interested in Cody Gakpo, instead, the player decided to join the Liverpool side. This signing shows the intent of the club. The Reds also plan to sign Jude Bellingham this January. Ian Wright claims that the Liverpool side is ready to go again in the transfer window. Wright commented,

“Unbelievable numbers, for 23, that’s fantastic, you have to say. You can see what Liverpool are trying to do, they are trying to build.”

He further added,

“Gakpo, I thought he was fantastic at the World Cup a lot of people were saying. Then Jude Bellingham was fantastic at the World Cup at 19. If that’s where Liverpool are going, then you can see they are getting themselves ready to go again.”

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are supposed to be very busy in the January transfer window. Although both the clubs have very different aims this season. The Gunners are seven points clear at the top of the table. This came as a surprise to many, as nobody had expected Arsenal to do so well this season. Arsenal are now 15 points off of Liverpool, who are just hovering outside of the top 4 even after 15 matches into the season.
