” The ICC recognises that, for a brief moment on February 15, 2023, India was incorrectly represented as the No.1 Test team on the ICC website due to a technological mistake,”
it added.
“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.”
In the first Test of the four-match series, India defeated Australia by an inning and 132 runs at Nagpur. Following India’s crushing victory, the ICC ranked India as the No. 1 Test team. Incidentally, only South Africa had achieved the feat of ranking first in all formats at the same time in 2012. Unfortunately, all of the joys were dashed when the ICC changed the rankings again in the evening.
