Asia Cup 2022 is all set to ring the bell tomorrow, 27th August. However, India has been leading throughout, as it will be their consecutive third win if they seal this tournament too. The final, will be played on September 11.

Nonetheless, India has been the champion of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Asia Cup for at least seven teams. Among the 24 T-20 played after the last year’s Men’s T20 World Cup, India have won 19 of it.

India is indeed a favourite in Group A. Well, Pakistan isn’t lagging behind from the favourites’ title. Moreover, Pakistan won against India in the 2021 T-20 WC by 10 wickets.

Pakistan will face their neighbour India in the opening match of Group A. It will on 28th of August at Dubai International Stadium.

Shane Watson, former Australian cricketer, said,

“That first game is going to be very special to watch because Pakistan have full belief now that they can beat this Indian team.”

He also added,

“I think, really, whoever wins that game is going to go on and win the Asia Cup.
“I’m sitting on the fence a little bit!”

He further said,

“But I think Pakistan have a chance to win that game because of the confidence they’d have got out of winning for the first time in a long time against India. Their confidence is going to be flying high. India are hard to contain, especially their batting.

“But Pakistan, and as I’ve always known playing against them, when their confidence is high, they’re nearly unstoppable. And their confidence is high now that they know they can beat India in a big tournament.”

Asia Cup 2022 in the T-20I format

Moreover, Hong Kong has qualified for the Asia Cup. They made their way to the Group, with India and Pakistan. However, Group B consists of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Nonetheless, Bangladesh and Afghanistan may go through the the super four stage. But the Lions are capable enough to sneak anyone of the top two spot.

Moreover, India had defeated Bangladesh in last two finals of Asia Cup.

So far, the tournament became comfortable with the One Day International format. But keeping the coming T-20 WC in mind, Asia Cup will present the T-20I format to the players.

It was in 2016 when the tournament started a alteration of ODI and T20 formats.
