India to announce 15-men World Cup squad on 3rd September: Reports

The countdown for the World Cup has began. Indian Cricket Team will announce it’s World Cup Squad on 3rd September. Which means that selectors will have only one Asia Cup game before they announce the 15 players who will take the field in the World Cup. However, they can tweak the squad till 28th September. So, technically they have all the Asia Cup games as well as Bilateral series against Australia.

KL Rahul will be point of discussion,

As KL Rahul is ruled out from first two games in Asia Cup, the selectors will not to able to see his form and fitness before announcing the World Cup squad. The wicket-keeper batter plays a vital role in the Indian team. Indian team management and selectors will be hoping that he regains his fitness and form as soon as possible.

Selection to look forward to in the World Cup squad,

There are few selection dilemma for the selection committee. Who will be the back-up keeper between Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson. Who will be the third spinner Axar Patel or Yuzvendra Chahal. Will young Tilak Verma find a place in the World Cup squad. How many pace bowlers will enough. These are few questions will be answered by the announcement of the 15-member squad.

In recent times, often Indian’s inability to win ICC trophy is blamed on the selection. Be it omission of Ambati Rayudu in 2019 World Cup or Yuzi Chahal in T20 World Cup 2021. Often times the abundance of quality players becomes headache for the selectors, whom to select. Ajit Agarkar led selection committee has an difficult task of picking the right squad for the mega event.

There is great anticipation among the fans for the World Cup squad. Everyone is looking forward to the selection. Although, every team can make changes to their squad till 28th September without giving any reason for the change.
