Cricket

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy is led by the Indian team by 2-0. The regular test captain Pat Cummins flew back to Australia to be with his ill mother. Steve Smith will be the captain at least for the third test. India drops KL Rahul and Shami rested for the third test.

Both the test matches end on the third day itself. Ravindra Jadeja is the man of the match for both matches. He contributes both with the bat and the ball. The leading run scorer is the Indian Captain himself, Rohit Sharma. The captain is leading the team from the front.

Rohit Sharma on Shami missing the test

“We aren’t there yet (WTC final) and we have to come and win this game, we have to try and repeat the things we did in the first two Tests. It is important to stay present. We have made two changes – Gill comes in place of KL. We have rested Shami,”

India won the toss in the third test and was elected to bat first. Unfortunately, they got bundled out for 109 runs. The wickets were falling from both ends as the ball was turning too much. The ball, dismissed Rohit Sharma turned to 8.3 degrees. Matthew Kuhnemann took his maiden five-fer in test cricket. He took the wickets of both the openers of the Indian team. Shami with new ball is key for the team.

However, the Aussies batted well and stretched some partnerships. But at the end of Day 1, the score of Australia is 156 for 4. Usman Khawaja was the leading runscorer in this test match.
