India faces Srilanka in their second super four group match of the Aisa Cup, 2022. Will India back Arshdeep and Pant?

India is to take on Srilanka on Tuesday, 6th September 2022 in the super four group match of the Aisa Cup, 2022. India will look to redeem themselves after suffering a defeat in a last-ball thriller from arch-rival Pakistan. The defending champions will have to win all their remaining matches to stand a chance of qualifying for the final of the tournament.

Srilanka, on the other hand, is high in confidence. They defeated Afghanistan in their opening super four matches. They chased down a target of 175 in the last over. The contest is pretty wide open for both teams. The odds for both teams are almost equal.

The opening and middle order of the Indian team did a fair job against Pakistan. They put pressure on the opposition’s prime bowlers. So, Rohit is unlikely to make any changes to the top order. The bowling department did not perform up to the mark. So we may see some shuffling happening.

Possible changes in the playing XI

The headache of Pant vs Karthik is troubling the Indian management. Pant has been on the receiving end since the last game. Skipper can make a tough decision and Dinesh Karthik is likely to get a game. Keeping fielding aside, Arshdeep Singh was impressive with the bowl. He did not leak many runs and, having just 7 runs to defend in the final, he managed to take the game to the very last ball. India is most likely to back the pacer for the game versus Srilanka.

Ravindra Jadeja was ruled out following an injury last week. Ravi Bishnoi got a game against Pakistan and provided the crucial wicket of Pakistani skipper, Babar Azam. Yuzvendra Chahal was unimpressive and went wicket-less for over 40 runs in 4 overs. Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin are warming the bench. One of the two is most likely to get a game today.

There is still no update on Avesh Khan’s health. He was reportedly down with a high fever during the last game. Deepak Chahar is still recovering from his back injury and the management wants to keep him fit for the T20 World Cup. Therefore, Bhuvneshwar Kumar would keep his place.

Meanwhile, Srilanka will want to keep the winning combination intact and are unlikely to make any changes to their eleven.
